Therapy for Children
Is Your Child Struggling?
Children often want to do the right thing, but when they feel overwhelmed by big emotions or difficult experiences, it may show up in their behavior.
Parents may notice changes such as increased anxiety, emotional outbursts, withdrawal, or difficulty at school. These behaviors are often a child’s way of communicating that something deeper is going on.
Therapy provides children with a supportive space to explore their feelings, build coping skills, and develop healthier ways of expressing themselves.
At Initiative Therapy, I work with school-age children (ages 9 and older) and their families to support emotional well-being and resilience.
How Therapy Helps Children
Children often communicate through behavior rather than words. Therapy helps them develop tools to better understand and manage their emotions.
Through therapy, children can learn to:
• Identify and express emotions in healthy ways
• Develop coping skills for anxiety and stress
• Improve confidence and self-esteem
• Process difficult memories or experiences
• Build stronger communication with parents and caregivers
I also collaborate with parents to support their child’s emotional growth outside of sessions.
